Lebanese arrested over hit-and-run incident in Victoria Island

On Wednesday, 4th May 2022, A Nigerian lady named Omotomi Akinsanya sustained gruesome injuries on her leg after being hit by a Lebanese driver who ignored traffic signs in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The incident, which left the victim in a hospital bed, was confirmed on Twitter by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command.

The Lebanese driver is a middle-aged man named John Greg ‘m’, driving a Toyota 4Runner recklessly and against traffic on Sanusi Fafunwa Road. This reckless driving happened to be the result of Omotomi sustaining severe injuries to her leg.

According to eyewitnesses, he had sped off after noticing the accident and was chased down by sympathizers who apprehended him and handed him over to the Police. To show how severe the hitting was, his plate number came off when he hit her.

In a tweet posted by the Police Spokesman, he said, “Suspect in our custody. Vehicle impounded and in our station. Victim undergoing treatment at LASUTH. The victim’s family was duly informed. Embassy of Lebanon duly informed. Investigation ongoing.”

According to a tweet shared recently, it’s been gathered that Omotomi has gone into surgery and is out but, there’s yet information to know if her leg was amputated.
